The Texas Transplant Institute, located in San Antonio is currently recruiting for a 4^th physician for the adult blood and morrow transplant program.  Applicants must be eligible for licensure in Texas, Board Certified in internal medicine, have completed a fellowship program and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in hematology and / or medical oncology.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to practice in a community based academic setting and develop clinical and translational research opportunities.  Collaboration with the solid organ transplant program at the Texas Transplant Institute also provides unique opportunities for research in combined transplants, immunosuppressive therapy, and cellular therapy techniques. 

Under the leadership of C. Fred LeMaistre, MD., the program is a combined adult and pediatric program  The clinical program, bone marrow collection facility, stem cell collection facility an cell-processing lab are fully accredited by FACT.  Currently there are 3 adult transplant physicians and 3 pediatric transplant physicians.  The pediatric program is headed by Dr. Donna Wall and performs approximately 40 transplants / year.  Adult and pediatric physicians perform autologous, related and unrelated allogeneic transplants, including cord blood transplants, averaging about 200 transplants / year.  The programs are housed at Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children’s Hospital of South Texas, both accredited by JCAHO.
