Seeking BE/BC Family Practice physician to join group of three family physicians in beautiful Valdez. OB is preferred. Providence Valdez Medical Center provides quality health care to residents and visitors with an extensive array of local services. It's an 11-swing bed facility located with a 10-bed long-term care facility. Situated at the head of a deep, Stillwater fjord in the northeast section of Price William Sound, Valdez is surrounded by the Chugach Mountains, the most heavily glaciated mountains in the Northwest.

About Valdez

Situated at the head of a deep stillwater fjord in the northeast section of Prince William Sound, Valdez is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise surrounded by stunning scenery. Prince William Sound offers some of the world's best fishing for salmon, halibut, ling cod and many other species. Our pristine waters abound with sea otters, Dall porpoises, harbor seals, Stellar sea lions and numerous whale species. Coastal mountain cliffs are home to mountain goats and Dall sheep as well as bears, wolves, foxes, wolverines and other northern mammals. Valdez takes flight with bird viewing opportunities as well. Bald eagles are abundant, and scores of ducks and shorebirds can be identified through the summer and fall. The Chugach Mountains that surround Valdez are covered in thick grass in the summer, making for excellent hiking, camping and berry picking, and are covered in up to 900 inches of fresh powder in the winter. Helicopter and snowcat skiing and snowboarding are the best in the world, ranging from intermediate to extreme. Backcountry, telemark and cross-country skiing provide more options. Snowmobiling near Valdez is also a world-class experience with endless peaks, valleys and glaciers to explore. Frozen waterfalls provide unparalleled ice climbing opportunities. Valdez has a population of around 4,100 friendly residents, and we get a flood of visitors in the summer. The pace of life is relaxed and the community is tight-knit. It's a great place to truly practice family medicine, following patients from birth through old age.
