Saratoga Hospital seeks BE/BC emergency physicians to join Saratoga Emergency Physicians, P.C., a well-regarded group based in Saratoga Springs, NY, a rapidly expanding community. This is an exceptional opportunity for emergency physicians to practice at one or both hospitals served by group, Saratoga Hospital with an annual patient census of 35,000 visits; and Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, with 24,400 visits. Nathan Littauer is located approximately 30 miles northwest of Saratoga Springs. 

In addition, the group provides coverage for Wilton Medical Arts, Malta Medical Arts, services of Saratoga Hospital, and for their physician-owned Urgent Care of Southern Saratoga. The compensation package for this position includes these insurances: family health, family dental, group life, group long- term disability, and individual long term disability. Other benefits include: sick pay plan, paid time off, CME stipend of $4,000, holiday time and hours worked in excess of 180/mo. paid at time-and-a-half, shift differential of an additional hour for night shift; flexible spending account; corporate retirement plan, profit sharing and more. Hourly rates vary by hospital. The corporation compensates practitioners in a variety of ways financially.

SARATOGA HOSPITAL: Growing to Meet Community Need

Saratoga Hospital is a 171-bed community hospital with an attached 72-bed skilled nursing facility. The hospital offers a complete range of inpatient and outpatient care. The hospital received the highest rating on the last Joint Commission of Accredited Hospitals Organization (JCAHO) survey. The hospital is experiencing overall growth to meet the needs of the community and is in the process of major renovation and expansion including doubling the size of the emergency department. At Saratoga Hospital, nurses have been recognized as being among the best in the nation – ranked in the top 2% of all US hospitals, according to the American Nurses Credentialing Center by achieving Magnet designation, Nursing’s top honor.
 
Support services for emergency medicine includes state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging services with spiral CT, ultrasound and x-ray; a full service laboratory; cardio-pulmonary services including a cardiac catheterization laboratory offering diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and peripheral vascular interventions, and 24-hour availability of mental health consultations. The acute care division includes three medical surgical units including 17 telemetry beds, ICCU, 16-bed inpatient mental health unit, women’s health and birthing center, pediatrics and surgical services. The Regional Therapy Center offers physical, occupational and speech therapy. The Department of Surgery includes the Same Day Surgery unit, seven operating rooms, and post anesthesia care unit. The hospital recently added the da Vinci Surgical System to its surgical service technologies. The Mollie Wilmot Radiation Oncology Center offering state-of-the-art technology, including IMRT, opened in Summer 2005.

Reaching Out

Wilton Medical Arts, an ambulatory care center located approximately four miles from the hospital, offers
services including medical imaging (1.5 tesla MRI short bore magnet;  a breast health center complete with a resource nurse, breast MRI and biopsy capabilities on site;  CT, PET/CT imaging, DEXA, ultrasound, and x-ray); and in addition, Laboratory Services, Corporate Health Services, Urgent Care, Regional Therapy Center satellite, and a Hearing Shop. A large primary care center will open at Wilton Medical Arts Spring 2008. The Saratoga Surgery Center opened in 2004 offering ambulatory surgery, with five operating rooms, two GI suites and a minor surgery room, adjacent to Wilton Medical Arts. Malta Medical Arts opened in April 2007 and offers medical imaging (MRI, CT, US and x-ray); Urgent Care and Laboratory Services.
 
In August 2007, the hospital signed an agreement to purchase a vacated 140-acre horse farm approximately 12 miles south of Saratoga Springs in Malta and has submitted plans for approval by the Town for a Planned Development District (PDD) to build a medical park. Many services are under consideration for the property including medical office buildings, a new hospital (long range plan), nursing home, senior apartments, assisted living facility, medical retail, such as equipment and pharmacy sales, and a therapeutic riding program.     
 

Our Location - A Destination

Located a half hour from Albany, less than three hours from NYC, Montreal and Boston, Saratoga Springs is a family-centered community offering lovely neighborhoods, and a lively downtown with fine restaurants and specialty shops. This small city is known for world-class entertainment including Thoroughbred horse racing, polo, and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, which is the summer host of the New York City Ballet and the Philadelphia Orchestra. The center plays host to a number of internationally known jazz, pop, rock and country musicians. A local recreation and athletics commission provides children with a number of activities. The city is noted throughout the travel industry as a top tourist destination. Saratoga was voted the inaugural recipient of the “Great American Place” award by American Heritage Magazine and selected as one of Sports Illustrated’s Top 10 Sports Venues in the World. The Adirondacks, Green Mountains of Vermont, and The Berkshires of Massachusetts beckon outdoor enthusiasts for year-round recreation, including golf, skiing, hiking, climbing, camping and more. Water sports draw many to nearby lakes and rivers.

 

The Capital-Saratoga and North Country Regions offer a number of educational opportunities and excellent public school systems.
