Locum Tenens

Locum Tenens

PracticeMatch Locum Tenens utilizes an occurrence form policy for our medical professional liability insurance issued by Medical Protective; A.M. Best Rating: A++ (excellent).

Claims-made coverage has some specific issues with Locum Tenens services, so PracticeMatch does not use this type of insurance. Claims-made coverage responds to claims based on when the claim is first made. Claims-made policies contain a retroactive (or "prior acts") date, which allows the policy to look back in time. As long as the medical incident took place after the policy's retroactive date, and the claim is first made during the policy period, the claims-made policy will respond. However, claims-made policies require a "tail" to be purchased in the event coverage for "prior acts" cannot be obtained. Without this, the provider to would not have on-going protection. Since "tail" coverage terms and conditions differ by company, prudent risk management would suggest that you be aware of the length of time you are given to report claims.

Occurrence coverage responds to claims based on when the medical incident occurred regardless of when the claim is actually made. As long as the medical incident occurred during the policy period, your occurrence policy will respond, even if the claim is made after the policy period expires. An extended reporting period endorsement or "tail" as it is commonly known is not needed or required under an occurrence policy. So, our clients have peace of mind!

PracticeMatch uses an occurrence form for the peace of mind and mutual protection of our clients and our physicians.

Success Story

"Today, I couldn't be more pleased with PracticeMatch. It is a wonderful resource that allows a doctor to find me and for me to find a specific doctor. When the ability to find each other works as well as this, we have a great company to partner with. The training provided can not be beat by any of the other website organizations that I have seen. Kudos to PracticeMatch for making an in-house recruiting person's a bit less stressful."
